Restricted Permissions should hide Projects/Tasks
As it is, anyone we add has access to the full list of customers and projects, even if we restrict workers. We'd like to add some freelancers for a few specific issues, but this is a dealbreaker for us!
Also, the approach of having a company-wide setting to change the permissions of all "user" role is interesting, but is not fine-grained enough. Please add additional roles, such as "restricted".

That has been implemented and released. You can now select "restricted user" role to make all things like projects, customers and not assigned tasks not visible to the user.
Admin is responsible for selecting tasks for restricted user and user can only report time for those tasks.
This feature is Premium only because modifying user settings/timesheet (which is Premium) is required to select tasks for a user.You can read more at http://blog.mrticktock.com/2014/04/mrticktock-28-time-tracking-for.html
The company wide 'restrict permission' works as previously for standard 'user' role.

We decided to add "Restricted user" role who will be only to work on tasks:
* see Tick-Tock tab, report time and popup task details (but not customer/project details)
* don't see Tasks tab (admin would need to add tasks to Tick-Tock tab for this kind of user)
* don't see Standup tab (we can change that later and allow restricted user to see only standup reports related to particular tasks/projects)
* see Report tab and own reports
* don't see anyting else.I believe it will solve the case of external freelancers. Let us know if you have any comments or suggestions.

Having another role like "restricted" sounds good but it would still require something more to allow these restricted users access particular tasks.
Maybe tasks assignment is an option. Let us discuss this requirement and get back to you.
